Having Fun With Visiting Teaching

I know that we all would like to be better at our visiting teaching each month. Sometimes we have a little extra time and it's no problem, but 90% of the time we are all very busy with our day to day and, unfortunately, visiting teaching is one of those things that slips our minds (I know it does mine). A few months ago, I decided to try and do better with mine, and in order to make it a bit more fun, I started making cute visiting teaching message cards to mail out instead of just the photocopy each month. Thankfully, beginning in January, a Sister named Erica (who runs Steadfast and Immovable, a digital scrapbooking blog with an emphasis on Young Women) started making one of her own and posting it for anyone to download for free each month. Now I get all the credit of my VT messages being so cute and I don't have to do the work to make it :)

So, even though it totally gives away my secret weapon, I will post a link to her new handout each month so we all can spread our love each month in a cute way. Every little bit helps in making visiting teaching a bit more fun so we are reminded to do it. We have so many Sisters out there who we have not seen or contacted in a while, and wouldn't it be nice to know they have a nice church message that is cute enough to hang on their refrigerator? :) It's even nice to hang up one for yourself. You can print it and keep it in your car or desk as a nice monthly reminder.

Anyway, here is the message for March. We still have 4 more days until the end of the month, so even if you can't arrange a visit, this message is sure to brighten someone's day! So print these out, and mail them before this Friday. Then don't forget to click the link at the top of the blog to report your VT for the month!

Another Great Sunday :)

Well, we had a lovely meeting this week. A big thanks to Sister Thompson for teaching our lesson on Work and Personal Responsibility. It certainly sparked some conversation :)

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on the upcoming Stake Relief Society Conference that is this coming Saturday, March 19th from 9am to 1pm. The theme is, "Here I Am, Send Me."

We will be graced with the speaking of Mary Jo Hill, and after her remarks, everyone present will be able to choose three of the following classes:
  • Love, Life, and Learning - Stan Domino
  • Developing Healthy Family Relationships - President Fowler
  • Rising Above the Natural Woman - Keith & Kathy Berger
  • Nobility in Womanhood, Joy in Motherhood - Christine Linton
  • Applying the Scriptures to Everyday Life - Cy Toland
  • Successfully Raising Children While Facing the Challenges of Living in Today's World - Mark & Sherilyn Mortensen
  • Temple Worship: Our Ultimate Earthly Goal and the Supreme Mortal Experience - Patriarch Waters
This conference is casual dress, so there's no need to fret about what you wear, just come ready to soak up the talks and enjoy the company of those around you. Lunch will be served and they encourage bringing a friend!

Also, there is an optional service project attached to this conference. We will be helping The Master's Workshop, a religious-based after school facility supporting the South Melbourne community. Janet Marks and her volunteers help "at risk" kids, giving them a safe place to complete homework a healthy snack. The Master's Workshop is always in need of food and supplies, and this conference, the stake is asking those who are able to donate to this worthy cause. Some of the things they need are:
  • Fruit Cups
  • Juice Boxes (100% Juice)
  • Microwave Popcorn
  • Granola Bars
  • Goldfish Crackers
  • Teddy Grahams
  • Bottled Water
  • Crackers
  • Pretzels
  • Fresh Fruit
  • Breakfast Cereal (Healthy)
  • Popsicles (100% Fruit)
  • Pudding Cups

Also, The Master's Workshop has need of new or gently used clothing and toys for children. The stake recommends the following:
  • Beginning Reader Books
  • T-Shirts, Shoes, Clothing (Size 4 to Adult)
  • Belts
  • Handheld Games
  • Puzzles and Legos
A side note mentioned by the stake on their handout is that The Master's Workshop would welcome child-friendly homemade or premade frozen dinners. They serve 30 children nightly. If you would like to participate in this, they ask that you contact Sister Grover from the stake. Please email me for her number :)

I hope this has wet your whistle on what to expect this Saturday and we hope to see everyone there! If anyone needs a ride, please contact Sister Fowler or Sister Price and we will work it out for you.
